Because of the generosity and faithfulness of our donors and partners, the solar field at ECWA Hospital Egbe is now installed and providing a reliable source of power for the hospital.
This is a tremendous milestone in the revitalization of Egbe Hospital—and a transformational investment in patient care.
For years, inconsistent electricity was one of the hospital’s greatest challenges. Today, dependable power makes it possible to operate critical services around the clock, including the operating rooms, ICU, laboratory, X-ray, oxygen systems, blood bank, vaccine storage, incubators, and electronic patient records.
Now We Need to Keep It Running
Installing the solar system was a major achievement. But a system of this size requires ongoing maintenance, monitoring, technical expertise, staff training, replacement components, and operational support to ensure it continues to perform reliably for many years to come.
Our next priority is to establish a sustainable Solar Operations and Maintenance Fund that will help us:
- Maintain and service the solar panels, batteries, inverters, and related equipment
- Train and equip local staff to monitor and manage the system
- Provide technical support and timely repairs when needed
- Plan for the replacement of components as they reach the end of their useful life
- Keep the hospital’s power system operating safely and efficiently
