It is always such a joy to see first-hand the tremendous impact your partnership is making in rural Egbe, Nigeria. Our recent trip once again highlighted the progress at Egbe Hospital and the College of Nursing. It also gave us the opportunity to attend the hospital and college board meetings and meet with the leadership to plan for the upcoming months.
Construction on the new surgical center is making remarkable strides. This new facility will significantly enhance the hospital’s surgical capabilities, allowing us to improve patient outcomes and serve more Nigerians needing surgery. The foundation is laid, and the structure is swiftly taking shape as one hundred workers push the project forward.
We are thrilled to also report that the two new dormitories on the nursing college residential campus are nearing completion. These dormitories will provide a safe and comfortable living space for 176 additional students, increasing our total capacity to 512. This expansion is crucial for accommodating the growing number of students dedicated to their studies in nursing sciences.
In a significant step towards sustainability, the first of three forty-foot shipping containers filled with solar panels and supplies are on their way to Egbe. This solar project promises to be a game changer, providing reliable electricity to the entire medical complex. This initiative is an answer to our prayers and a monumental step towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
On this trip I also had several promising meetings with aviation officials and businessmen. These discussions pave the way for an aircraft to be brought to Nigeria to serve missions and humanitarian agencies. An aircraft would turn the 7-hour drive to Egbe over horrible roads into a 45-minute flight, greatly enhancing our connectivity and ability to efficiently serve the community and other ministries. Join us in praying for this initiative.
We are grateful for the hospital and college leadership, our maintenance and construction teams, the many volunteers that contribute to our goal of mentoring and training, and the support of the Egbe community who continue to gather daily to pray for the revitalization efforts.
Your donations, prayers, and encouragement inspire and empower us every day. We move forward with great anticipation of what the Lord will achieve through your partnership and generosity. Stay tuned for more updates on these exiting projects.
