Hassana’s Hope: Pursuing a Nursing Dream

Meet Hassana*, a young Fulani student who grew up in the bush surrounding Egbe. One day, a missionary visiting her village met Hassana and her mother outside their hut. They spoke about their hopes and dreams for Hassana’s future, dreaming that one day she might become a nurse. But there were two significant challenges: they had no money for tuition, and Hassana’s father had already arranged her marriage. Going to school was not part of his dreams for his daughter.

Over time, Hassana’s father softened his stance but insisted she attend a school of his choosing rather than the Christian Nursing College in Egbe. After a year of negotiations and the promise of scholarship assistance, Hassana was finally able to apply to the College. Today, she is thriving in the post-basic nursing program, where she participates in daily devotions, listens to the Word of God, and experiences faith in action through her nursing education.

Hassana is just one of the 400 nursing and midwifery students whose lives are being touched every day at ECWA College of Nursing Sciences in rural Egbe, Nigeria. Thanks to your prayers and generous support, the College has been revitalized, bringing about significant changes, including:

  • A beautifully upgraded academic campus that serves as a well-organized, peaceful environment for both staff and students.
  • A new residential campus, with two additional dormitories nearly complete, bringing the total to six dorms. This expansion will bring the accommodation capacity up to 512.
  • The blessing of learning and growing in a faith-filled, Christian environment.

Would you consider making a difference by sponsoring a nursing or midwifery student?

  • Your contribution of $1,000 will cover a full year of training, including education, accommodation, and meals for one student.
  • A gift of $2,800 will support a student through the entire 3-year program.
  • Or, you can give any amount to help students who have worked hard to pay most of their fees but need a little extra support to complete their journey to graduation.

Your generosity will change a life and impact a community for generations to come.

The story does not end with Hassana.  With the skills they gain, students are empowered to serve in villages and cities across Nigeria, bringing hope, healing, and the love of Christ to those who need it most. Their work is transforming healthcare and opening doors to share the Gospel in countless communities.

Listen as two students share their experiences at the Nursing College and see how your support is making a lasting impact.

This is so exciting! You play an essential role in this incredible ministry, shaping educational excellence and transforming lives every day.
