Future Initiatives

Construction of a Surgery Center

The hospital’s existing operating theater, built in the early 1970s, was upgraded in 2015 to address outdated operating equipment, poor ventilation, lighting and electrical challenges and inadequate floor space. Once again we will renovate the area to include four operating theaters and a new surgery center to offer pre-op consultation areas, prep room, post-op area and pediatric, female and male surgical wards.

Creation of a Solar Farm

The solar farm will power the Hospital, College of Nursing Sciences Academic and Residential campuses and the resident doctor and missionary residential complex. This involves transporting three 40-ft containers of solar panels (200KW capacity) from USA to Egbe; working with Samaritans Purse, I-Tech and other experts to acquire the components that go with the panels; purchase large back-up battery; set up the panels in a large, designated area in Egbe; and train a team of nationals to maintain the solar farm.

Mission Aviation Infrastructure

Poor roads, dramatic increase in crime, political unrest, security risks in the country, limited infrastructure and long distances between international airports and Egbe, make air transport even more important today.

In 2020, Andy Wallace, Director of Health, Education and Literacy Providers (H.E.L.P) partnered with private business owners in Texas and the local community to upgrade the Egbe airstrip from a grass strip to a paved runway. Work continues today.

Egbe Medical Mission, under Don Campion’s leadership, is working with mission agencies, private businesses and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authorities to return mission aviation to Nigeria. The goal is to offer air transport and air ambulance service to missionaries, NGO’s, volunteers, ECWA officials and mission agencies to further the Gospel and provide safe, expedient travel.

Community Pharmacy Building

Improve access to essential, quality medications by contributing to the creation of a community-based pharmacy located in the town of Egbe. This project not only provides access to medications but also offers health education, preventive care and a reliable healthcare resource – avoiding fake drugs and un-credentialed pharmacists that community members can afford.

Mission Munchies
